Default Helmet Help

So last time I went to the track (drag) I borrowed my friends helmet. I'm not sure how to purchase a helmet with all these different types of safety ratings. I just want to buy a full helmet that would be good for anything, auto-x, drag and circuit. Help?

Im sure steve can help better on this...

but I have a "M" helmet. Which is actualy for a motor cycle. However, its fine for Auto X and Slower Dragracing (slower then 11.5 I think)

The Auto racing one required for Road course is a SA I think. Then there will be a year on it. Like SA2005. This will tell you when it expires.

The main difference Im told is that the "m" helemts are made for small multiple impacts as where the 'SA' is made for one big one then garbage.

MA rated helmets are allowed in Circuit racing but are not nomex. So incase of fire that shit will melt to your face. SA means it is also Nomex which is very very nice (I have a SA2005 Auto racing helmet and its also light weight) Cost of my helmet is 700 bucks BUT thats because I bought an expensive one for the light weight reasons not all helmets are that expensive.

We have been offering helmets for a few years... For Drag, all you need for the slower cars (under 10 sec. if memory serves me) is a M rated helmet.

For Autcross and track it depends on the sanctioning body... Some will accept a M rating, while others want a SA...

The main difference between a M and SA rating besides fire retardance is the testing itself... Snell will award a SA rating based on multiple impacts to the helmet, M is for a single impact.

We have SA rated helmets starting at around $200... Comes with a helmet bag...

Just shoot us an email if you have any questions... JnJAssoc@aol.com
